From the original Chicken Pot Pie EP. Song written by Jeff Gay and Dave Chipman
SONG NOTES: Suite: Apple Pie was probably influenced by Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. The first section would later feature more robust harmonies on the chorus section, while the second section was pretty sweet to solo over. The third section is the jam, includes the first sample on a J Gay record, with the crowd noise added to the KISS intro on part three. This section also featured Dave Chipman's bass solo, and the famous "Whoomp! There It Is" section inspired by Tag Team
TECH NOTES: Transferred from original DAT by Terry Pulliam/Korey Bayer. After successfully extracting the majority of Chicken Pot Pie tracks from the DAT (with some difficulty in some cases, due to the age of the tape), a second DAT was located and sent to Terry and Korey. My hope was to find a seventh track that was recorded called Mr. Raz, but unfortunately it could not be retrieved; however, the three tracks that make up side two were extracted from the 2nd DAT, and they are represented here (as they had better fidelity, in my view)
lyrics
SUITE: APPLE PIE
I went out sailing, my woman and I
I guess I went a bit too far
Because the ocean, it was no longer water
And after I got so mad
Now I'm just so confused
But you were right there to help me
But you can't turn back the clocks
No, you can't turn back the clocks
And I will go anywhere that you ever want me to
And I will travel with you and I don't care where
Because you are my soul now
Especially when I get confirmed
Well, and you can be a perfect Christian then
And you can't turn back the clock
No you can't turn back the clocks
Well, I'm so tired
I cannot sleep
Lucy has lost her coloured dreams
And I know that glass onion has been shattered into pieces
By your madman's gun
I wanna rock n' roll all night
And party every day
I have a baby now
You know I do
Only thing I thing about
And I don't know why I do, yup
Go to school everyday
Pass the day away
Lonely school atlas
Has got me in a sway, yup
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Whomp, there it is
Yea, yea, yea
